Using your choice of interface—an OptiServer' sicon-based browser or a command line interface—OptiServer for Tru64 UNIX V5.0 provides a centralized storage system.

The onboard graphical Event Manager offers a single event log that consolidates system events to provide a unified view of the storage system behaviour and enable proactive system management. Events can be monitored, filtered, prioritized, and routed to applications as needed.

Configuration changes and recently installed patches can be rolled back to restore your system to its prior state.

The new versions of OptiServer for Tru64 UNIX and TruCluster Server offer a total package of reliability, availability, and serviceability unsurpassed in the industry. Advanced features ensure 24x365 operations, greatly reducing service interrupts, planned outages, and other problems. For example:

Hardware partitioning (currently supported on GS140 AlphaServer systems) lets you divide a single system into multiple partitions, each with a separate operating system image. If one fails, the others are unaffected.

Alternate patching for storage and network devices eliminates service interrupts. If a critical path fails, I/O is dynamically re-routed through an alternate path in a single system or between nodes in a cluster.

Online (hot) tuning lets you change Kernel parameters without rebooting the system.
