KOM Networks Inks Multi-Million Dollar Magneto-Optical and DVD Software Deals from ASIA

KOM Networks Receives Major Order for OptiStorm v4.0 (Magneto Optical and DVD) Software. During and immediately following the COMDEX '99 trade show held in Las Vegas, KOM Networks received significant orders for MO and DVD Software. In addition to numerous individual orders, a substantial order for more than 300 copies of OptiStorm v4.0 DVD Jukebox management software applications was received, underscoring KOM Networks' and OptiStorm's world-wide leadership position in this burgeoning segment of the market. The value of these orders is in excess of 10 Million Dollars.

Dr. Taher Shaath wouldn't disclose the name of the customer, but said it's an Asian company, most of whose products will actually end up in the United States. Shaath did say that it's the largest single order in KOM Networks' history.

The success of DVD in the market became quite evident during the second half of the year as manifested by the enormous additional demand for Storage Management applications. Competitors have exhausted their existing capacity and have limited features, particularly for DVD. Orders placed by hardware manufacturers cannot all be filled in time for the approaching market demand and the performance and features available have disappointed customers.

Whoever the client is, that purchase alone establishes them as the major player in the DVD Software world.

KOM Networks plans to more than double its development and support of the OptiStorm v4.0 in the year 2000 in order to accommodate the upsurge in market demand.
